HIGHLAND TRAIL 550 - A TRIAL ON TRAIL

Starting on the 12th August, Paul Giblin (Pyllon founder) will be setting out on a 550 mile trail adventure across the Scottish Highlands.

The Highland Trail 550 is a route originally conceived by veteran endurance mountain biker Alan Goldsmith as a training route for the Colorado Trail Race (CTR).

The Highland Trail was later developed into one of the most challenging self-supported off-road individual time trials (ITT) in the world.

No-one has attempted to run it before. There is no FKT (fastest-known-time). FOLLOW LIVE TRACKER,

The full route of 550 miles is a big undertaking.

Will require daily target of over 40 miles a day to complete in under 2 weeks (without any rest day)

It's a varied route, and from experience on these challenges, underfoot conditions can turn 1 mile into the equivalent of 4 miles! Weather is unpredictable and navigation will be required.

Lots of demanding single track, tough climbs and rough descents. Only short sections of road, so it will be challenging to cover enough miles each day.

This will be supported mostly by one crew in a van - providing a moving 'life-base.' It's not supported financially - it's a passion project and one with a huge commitment in time, energy, business mgt and money

How TO GET INVOLVED

This will be a minimally supported adventure, with one crew for the most-part supporting in a small camper van for clothing changes, food prep, eating and sleeping. There will be a live GPS tracker and when possible regular running schedules will be published. If you’d like to join the team to run some miles or offer some support please get in touch.

To get involved as an individual, brand or business please contact support@pyllonultra.com and follow across social media: @pyllon and @pyllonultra
