What is Pyllon Monthly coaching?

Pyllon MONTHLY is a bespoke, personal, and in-depth run coaching experience for athletes who need monthly coaching support and are in search of more training structure and access to expert training advice and insights. Training is tailored monthly and built on the foundations and methodologies of our ultra-athlete learnings. This option is available for all distances.

At Pyllon we use our extensive experience and knowledge of coaching and racing to create principle-led training plans that will work for you - whatever your goal or motivation.

Training is designed specifically to focus on your desired outcomes, whether that’s to run further, run faster or run higher. This option is suitable for both new and experienced runners. We’ll help you train consistently, improve your running, and help you to enjoy the training process. You’ll also get to be part of our amazing Pyllon community.

You’ll be supported on this journey by one of our Pyllon coaches who will help you to improve your performances and to find growth through all of your efforts in training and racing.

How does it work?

With Pyllon MONTHLY coaching you’ll have an assigned coach, who will create your plans and support your running improvement journey. We provide structure to training based on your goals - be it, running longer, running faster, or running higher!

Following our initial onboarding consultation we’ll create and deliver monthly training plans specifically for you. These plans, based on our experiences working with athletes across many distances and from beginner to elite, will be easy to follow and track from your online Training Peaks account. This is where you can record your runs (or have your watch do it for you) and will allow you to track your progress.

We’ll arrange a monthly review to have a short discussion about the training you’ve completed and how we can make improvements going forward.

Here’s a summary of what you can expect as a Pyllon MONTHLY athlete:

  • Consultation with your Coach to establish goals, discuss training history and to understand your short and long-term training priorities

  • Monthly training plan tailored to you

Why Pyllon?

We love running. It’s done so much for us and shaped our lives in ways we never expected. Our aim is to help our athletes live better and more fulfilling lives through consistent progress and by finding success in their running. As athletes we’ve spent years learning from our successes and our mistakes. We’ve worked with all types of athletes - people new to the sport and those already racing for their country. From people with very limited available training time to full-time elite athletes, so we’ve experienced most of the challenges and employed the best strategies to ensure our athletes don’t have to worry about losing time, and wasting effort.

At Pyllon Coaching we believe that through a structured training plan with the benefit of having experienced many of the best and toughest races in the world, we can help athletes achieve their running ambitions.

We all have individual goals and targets and our coaching is designed with your desired outcomes in mind. Our specific and tailored training approach is based on our understanding of athlete ambitions and experience, the time available to commit to training and the many other demands of day-to-day life. Optimal training cannot be achieved simply by following one of the many available generic plans - priorities change and life has a habit of throwing up challenges, so we review workload, performance and recovery data, to ensure our athletes reach the start-line better-prepared for their event.

Who is the Coaching Team?

At Pyllon we have an experienced team of coaches, and we stay connected to ensure learnings are shared and we continually improve as a team. Paul Giblin is Head Coach and specialises in ultra distance events as a coach and professional athlete. He set up Pyllon Coaching in 2014 and continues to drive and evolve the overall Pyllon training philosophy. He believes that a healthy athlete is a happy and more successful athlete - and that should be the core principle of any successful training programme.

Between us we’ve worked with hundreds of athletes, training for some of the biggest, boldest, weirdest, hottest, longest and fastest races in the world.

Our Head Coach is Paul Giblin. Paul is a professional athlete and has raced all over the world, from the heat of the Canyons at Western States 100, to the high alpine trails of UTMB. Paul’s thirst for adventure has also seen him set records on the Cape Wrath Trail and he recently completed an End to End Trail in 29 days (1,265 miles across the UK).

Our lead Pyllon MONTHLY Coach is Kevin Banks - a successful business executive, coach, and ultra-endurance athlete. Kevin brings a fresh dynamic to the coaching team. With over 15 years coaching people to grow, shift their mindset, and develop greater self-confidence to achieve more.

He is passionate about helping people make the most of life and believes following a principle-led training journey better enables people to fulfil that.

Ali Wyllie has been coaching with Pyllon for a number of years and has been training with us for sometime now. She has a BSc (Hons) in Psychology with Sports science and is a qualified Sports Massage Therapist. Ali has vast experience mentoring runners as she co-founded 2 successful running communities and directed a running tour company. She has completed many challenging ultra-marathons, most of which she achieved a podium position. Most notably Ali won the Kerry Way Ultra Lite in Ireland. Ali is deeply passionate about helping athletes build a healthy and fun running habit, realise their own potential, and guiding them on their journey to conquer their own running goals.
